Hamilton Marking Gauge
We're happy to offer these beautifully made, wood and brass marking gauges from Hamilton Woodworks. Finely crafted, they're precise in use and feel solid in hand. They have a brass wear strip across the reference fence making them much more stable for marking joinery then a standard round bottom gauge. We're carrying two sizes ( 4 & 6" ) in three select hardwoods.
Wild Black Cherry - "This is the wood we used for our first gauge. It is our top seller by far. The finish is attained by ammonia fuming and a hand rubbed oil/varnish which brings out the beautiful grain patterns from quarter sawn to flat sawn lumber. The darkening of aged cherry makes this tool more beautiful every day."
Black Walnut "Walnut has a beautiful grain and deep colour. The dark wood contrasts with the bright brass to create a very beautiful tool."
Osage Orange "Osage Orange, or Bodark as we call it in the Ozark Mountains, is a gauge you can spot across the shop. The unique yellowish tint of the wood creates a stand out and unique look. This wood is very dense and holds a very nice polish. It tends to turn a dark brown if left in sunlight."
